Kohima, September 21 (Nokinketer News): The Department of Health & Family Welfare has introduced a simplified registration mechanism for medical, dental, AYUSH, pharmacy, nursing and allied healthcare practitioners seeking to practise in Nagaland.
Under the Nagaland Simplification of Healthcare Practitioners Registration Notification, 2026, professionals holding recognised qualifications and valid registration with any State or Union Territory Council in India can seek enrolment with the corresponding council in Nagaland.
The new procedure dispenses with the requirement of obtaining a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the parent council. Applicants need to submit their qualification, valid registration proof and prescribed self-declaration to the concerned Nagaland council.
The registration number is to be issued within seven working days of receipt of the application. Practitioners may begin practice thereafter, subject to applicable laws and regulations.
However, the registration will remain provisional for 30 days, during which the concerned council will independently verify the practitioner’s credentials with the parent State/UT council.
Registration may be cancelled if verification finds the qualification or registration to be false, suspended, cancelled or otherwise invalid, after providing the practitioner an opportunity to be heard.
The department also cautioned that false or fabricated declarations could invite disciplinary action and prosecution under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 and other applicable laws.
The simplified process does not exempt practitioners from existing professional, ethical and legal obligations governing their respective fields.
