Mokokchung, 14th October 2026 (Nokinketer News): Legislators and community leaders have called for public cooperation in the upgradation of the inter-district connectivity road from Yongphang village via Yangching to Ukha Lampong (BRO Road), emphasising the importance of connectivity for development and stronger ties between the Konyak and Phom communities.

The launching programme for the road project was held at Yeangmon (Pangsha Bridge), between Longleng and Mon districts, on October 14, 2026. The programme was attended by MLA Naiba Konyak, MLA A. Nyemnyei Konyak and Advisor and MLA A. Pongshi Phom.

Addressing the gathering, A. Pongshi Phom, Advisor for Airways and Railways, highlighted the traditional brotherhood between the Konyak and Phom communities and urged people on both sides to extend full cooperation to the road construction project.

He said the road should be viewed as a common asset and a blessing for the people, adding that construction activities on either side should not cause inconvenience or create differences between the two communities. He appealed to the public to cooperate with workers and officials from all departments, irrespective of their background, to ensure the successful implementation of the project.

Pongshi further informed that several surveys would be conducted to determine the road alignment and identify better water sources for villages in the area. Stressing that road connectivity and communication are essential for development, he called for the project to be given top priority.

He said the project would be implemented in phases and, while completion would take time, expressed confidence that the road would eventually be completed.
