Mokokchung, 23rd October 2026 (Nokinketer News): Ao Senden, the apex body of the Ao Naga tribe, has rejected the reply of the Directorate of Health and Family Welfare (DH&FW), Nagaland, to its October 17 ultimatum concerning the deployment of a radiologist at Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital (IMDH), Mokokchung, and warned of further escalation of its agitation if its demands are not met by October 31.
In a letter addressed to the Principal Director of Health and Family Welfare, Nagaland, through the Medical Superintendent of IMDH, Ao Senden referred to the department’s reply dated October 22, 2026, and reiterated that its demand was for the implementation of the notification issued on August 19, 2026, regarding the deployment of a radiologist at IMDH.
Questioning the department’s decision, Ao Senden asked why a similar directive could not be issued for the release of the incoming radiologist from District Hospital, Phek, when the Medical Superintendent of IMDH had earlier been directed to release the Senior Radiologist from Mokokchung through an order dated September 7, 2026.
The apex Ao body reiterated that nothing short of a radiologist would be acceptable at IMDH Mokokchung. It also demanded that all doctors and nurses attached to other establishments be detached and reverted to IMDH, in accordance with its September 16 ultimatum.
Further, Ao Senden demanded that the shifting to the hospital’s new Block A be carried out as required.
Describing the department’s inaction as unjustifiable, the organisation said it viewed the delay as a challenge to Ao Senden and expressed its readiness to intensify the agitation if its demands remained unfulfilled.
Ao Senden has asked the department to address all its demands on or before October 31, 2026, warning that the ongoing agitation would continue and could be escalated further in the event of continued inaction.
