Mokokchung, April 30, 2026 (Nokinketer News): The Dr. Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital (IMDH), Mokokchung bid a heartfelt farewell to Dr. Ademla Tinu, Medical Superintendent, as she retired from service after a remarkable career spanning over three decades. A special retirement program was organized in the hospital’s Conference Hall to honor her contributions.
Dr Adem, in her farewell speech, reflected emotionally on her journey that began in 1993. “When I first joined, facilities were minimal—even the laboratory was barely functioning. We worked unbelievable hours. A post-emergency day off was unheard of,” she recalled. She shared memories of performing surgeries using flashlights and how patients would knock on her door even when she was at home.
Dr. Adem credited the collective efforts of the hospital staff for transforming IMDH into a model institution. She noted that the Doctors’ Forum and the Hospital Welfare Fund helped pioneer self-sufficiency, with minimal user charges being reinvested into infrastructure and equipment.
“What truly set us apart was not just innovation, but ownership. Our officers treated every responsibility as a personal commitment,” she said.
Sharing statistics from her long career, Dr. Adem revealed that she performed a tubal ligation almost every third day and a major surgery every fourth day, aside from countless minor surgeries and emergency calls.
In an emotional tribute, she acknowledged her parents as her silent support system. “They were young, strong, healthy, hands-on grandparents who took care of my baby 24×7. Because of them, I was able to devote my time, energy, and services to this hospital and my patients 24x7x365. “Honestly, my parents deserve a lot of credit for this hospital and my patients,” she said.
Apologizing for any unintentional hurt caused during her service, Dr. Adem assured her colleagues: “Retirement may remove me from duty rosters, but not from relationships. Should you ever need me, I am just a call or a text away.”
The program concluded with a vote of thanks as colleagues and staff honored Dr. Adem’s legacy of dedication, resilience, and transformative leadership at IMDH, Mokokchung. Dr. Temsumenla, SMO, ART Plus, IMDH, chaired the event, which began with an invocation by Wapang Longchar, Chaplain, IMDH. Farewell speeches were delivered by representatives from the Doctors of IMDH, the Office of the CMO Mokokchung, the College of Nursing, and the Nurses of IMDH. A special musical tribute was presented by the College of Nursing, followed by a benediction from Dr. Supongmeren, SMO, IMDH.
