Mokokchung, September 26 (Nokinketer News): Officials of the Central Nagaland Tribes Council (CNTC), Tenyimia Union Nagaland (TUN) and Eastern Nagaland People’s Union Mokokchung (ENPUM), representing the Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organisation (ENPO), visited Ungma village on September 26 to formally acknowledge the land donated to the three bodies by the Ungma Village Council.
A reception programme was held at the Rongpu Astro Turf in the presence of representatives of the three organisations, Ao Senden, the Ungma Village Council, land donors and well-wishers. The programme was chaired by UVC Secretary Nungsangtemjen.
CNTC President Hukiye K. Yepthomi, TUN President K.T. Villie and ENPUM President Y. Among Yimkhiung expressed gratitude to the village council and land donors, describing the gesture as a first-of-its-kind initiative in Nagaland and a message of unity, brotherhood and mutual understanding. Ao Senden General Secretary Imti Longkumer also addressed the gathering.
Speaking on behalf of the land donors, Tatars Imtidongba Jamir, R. Nungshilepden Jamir and Imtisungkum Longkumer said the donation was intended to “sow the seed of unity” among the people of Nagaland. They encouraged the three organisations to utilise the land at the earliest and assured that it had been donated to the respective bodies permanently.
The land was donated by three clans—Lanusuwa Jamir Clan to CNTC, Shikiyangba Jamir Clan to TUN and Sentimongba Longkumer Clan to ENPO. It was informed that the plots were allotted through a lottery system and were not individually selected by the clans.
The visiting delegation also inspected the donated land and expressed appreciation to the Ungma Village Council, the three donor clans, Ao Senden and all those involved in the initiative.
