
Mokokchung, 8th May, 2026 (Nokinketer News): The Model Code of Conduct (MCC) has ceased to be in operation with immediate effect following the declaration of results in recent assembly elections and bye-elections across several states, the Office of the Chief Election Officer, Nagaland has informed.
The code remains in force only in the 144-Falta Assembly Constituency in West Bengal, where the Election Commission has ordered a fresh poll.
According to an official communication, the results of the General Election to the Legislative Assemblies of Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, and the Union Territory of Puducherry, as well as the bye-elections in assembly constituencies of Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Nagaland, and Tripura, have been declared by the respective Returning Officers.
Consequently, the MCC has been lifted with immediate effect in all these regions, except for the Falta constituency.
