Mokokchung, June 14, 2026 (Nokinketer News): World Blood Donor Day was observed at the IMDH Conference Hall, Mokokchung, on June 14 under the theme “One Drop of Humanity. Give Blood. Save Life.” The program was organized by the Mokokchung Voluntary Blood Donors Association (MVBDA) and Blood Centre Mokokchung with sponsorship from the Nagaland State Blood Transfusion Council.

Speaking on the significance of the day, Dr. H. Tsipongchem Sangtam of the Blood Centre, IMDH Mokokchung, expressed gratitude to regular blood donors and those who had come for the first time, noting that some individuals had donated blood more than 30 times. He highlighted that 30–40 percent of the blood collected in the district comes through voluntary donation camps, while 60–70 percent is obtained through replacement donations.

Dr. Apong informed that individuals between the ages of 18 and 65 are eligible to donate blood and encouraged more youth to come forward. He emphasized that blood donation transcends social status, class, and race, stating that “blood is like a currency for our health.” He added that saving lives is not limited to doctors and nurses, as anyone can contribute by donating blood.

Representatives from the College of Nursing Mokokchung, Indian Red Cross Society, Mokokchung College of Teacher Education, People’s College Mokokchung, Nagaland University, Assam Rifles, and other participants attended the event, and 12 of them donated blood during the program.

As part of the observance, participants took a pledge to support voluntary blood donation and contribute towards saving lives. The program was chaired by MVBDA President Molo Jamir, while IMDH Chaplain Wapang Longchar invoked God’s blessings.
