Tuesday, 30th June, 2026 (Nokinketer News): The three-day State-level Palliative Care Training Program for nurses and psychiatrists concluded successfully in Kohima on June 27. The program was organized by the National Program for Palliative Care (NPCC) under the Directorate of Health & Family Welfare, Nagaland, and was held from June 25 to 27.

The valedictory session was chaired by Dr. Imnapokim, Joint Director and State Program Officer (SPO) for the Palliative Care Program.

During the closing program, the resource persons commended the participants for their active involvement and enthusiasm throughout the training. The trainees also pledged to apply the knowledge and skills gained during the program to strengthen palliative care services at their respective health facilities. Certificates were presented to all participants on the occasion.

The technical sessions were led by experienced healthcare professionals, including Hanife Macgamwell, Honorary Head and Instructor for ELNEC USA in India; Nileema Sharad Shingade, Senior Nursing Officer, AIIMS New Delhi; Ramswaroop, Senior Nursing Officer, AIIMS Jodhpur; Arvind Sharma, Senior Nursing Officer, AIIMS Jodhpur; and Sudip Rudra Paul, Nursing Officer, Dr. B. Borooah Cancer Institute.

The training covered key aspects of palliative care, including pain management, communication skills, psychosocial support, and holistic patient care, with the objective of enhancing the capacity of healthcare professionals to provide quality palliative care services across Nagaland.
