Monday, July 6, 2026 (Nokinketer News): Nagaland governor Nand Kishore Yadav on Monday chaired a review meeting with the Department of Women Resource Development (WRD) at Lok Bhavan to assess the implementation of key programmes aimed at women empowerment and livelihood generation across the State.

According to an official release, the meeting reviewed major initiatives of the department, including the Transformative Livelihood Intervention (TLI) Project, Protection and Promotion of Tribal Designs, Myki activities, Multi Training Centre, Integrated Development-cum-Resource Centre (IDRC), District Resource and Development Programme (DRDP), and various entrepreneurship and skill development programmes.

The department also briefed the governor on the proposed Myki Hub at the Naga Heritage Village, Kisama, which is intended to provide a permanent marketplace for women entrepreneurs, artisans and farmers while promoting traditional and contemporary products. Supported under the Chief Minister’s Innovative Programme Fund, the project is expected to be completed by November 2026.

The meeting further reviewed the construction of Working Women Hostels in various districts under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) initiative, besides efforts to expand women resource centres, strengthen livelihood interventions and improve market linkages for women entrepreneurs.

During the meeting, the department highlighted challenges such as limited financial resources and manpower, and stressed the need for greater support to expand programmes aimed at improving women’s livelihoods across the State.

Appreciating the department’s efforts, Yadav encouraged it to strengthen convergence with other departments and stakeholders, ensure effective implementation of its programmes, and continue creating sustainable economic opportunities for women in Nagaland.(Source @ PRO Lok Bhavan)
