Monday, 27th July 2026 (Nokinketer News): The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), Home Department, has forecast widespread rainfall and thunderstorms across the State from July 28 to 31 and urged the public to remain vigilant, particularly in areas vulnerable to landslides, flash floods and waterlogging.

According to the district-wise weather outlook, on July 28, most districts are likely to experience localized thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and light rain at scattered places. Moderate rainfall is expected in parts of Longleng, Mon, Niuland, Noklak, Peren, Tseminyu, Tuensang, Wokha and Zunheboto, while Mokokchung and Tseminyu are likely to receive moderate to heavy rainfall at most places. Residents have been advised to avoid open areas during thunderstorms and exercise caution while travelling.

On July 29, weather activity is expected to intensify. Kohima is likely to witness thunderstorms with lightning accompanied by heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places. Most other districts are expected to receive localized thunderstorms with light to moderate rainfall, while Mon, Noklak, Peren, Tseminyu and Zunheboto may experience rainfall at most places. People residing in landslide-prone and low-lying areas have been advised to remain alert.

For July 30, localized thunderstorms with lightning and light to moderate rainfall are expected over several districts. Tuensang is likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated locations, while rainfall activity in many other districts is expected to remain comparatively light.

On July 31, weather conditions are expected to improve across much of the State, with light to moderate rainfall at a few places. However, isolated thunderstorms accompanied by light to moderate rain may continue over Meluri, Mokokchung, Phek, Peren, Tseminyu, Wokha and Zunheboto. No active weather warnings have been issued for Kiphire, Noklak and Shamator on that day.

The NSDMA has advised citizens to stay updated with official weather forecasts and follow all advisories issued by the authorities. The public has also been encouraged to use the NSDMA Weather website and the SAFER Nagaland mobile application for real-time weather updates.
