Kohima, August 10 (Nokinketer News): The Planning & Transformation Department, Government of Nagaland, organised an orientation programme for 30 candidates selected for UPSC coaching at Vajiram & Ravi, New Delhi, at the Nagaland Civil Secretariat Conference Hall, Kohima, on Monday.

Principal Secretary and Development Commissioner Y. Kikheto Sema, IAS, encouraged the selected candidates to remain disciplined, work hard and manage their time effectively, describing them as future officers and leaders who would play an important role in serving the State and its people.

Kikheto said the State Government has been supporting indigenous students preparing for competitive examinations through the Chief Minister’s Corpus Fund (CMCF) for the past four years. Including the current year, around ₹2.77 crore has been spent on sponsoring such students, while ₹64.5 lakh has been earmarked for the present batch.

He said the 30 candidates were selected on merit following an examination conducted on July 25 based on the UPSC pattern. The department will monitor their attendance and performance, with a minimum attendance requirement of 90 per cent.

Joint Development Commissioner Heinswading congratulated the candidates and urged them to make the best use of the opportunity. He informed that around 120 candidates appeared for the selection process, from which 30 were selected.

The programme also included the signing of undertakings and an interactive session with the candidates. The selected aspirants expressed gratitude to the State Government and pledged to make sincere efforts towards achieving their goals and serving the State and the nation.
