Mokokchung, September 5, 2026 (Nokinketer News): MGM College accorded a warm welcome to Diocese Education Officer Rev. Fr. Reji C. Varghese and Mr. Thomas Mathew during a programme held at the college auditorium on September 4.
The event was attended by the college administration, faculty, staff and students, highlighting the institution’s commitment to strengthening its ties with the Diocese and promoting quality, value-based higher education.
Addressing the gathering, Rev. Fr. Reji C. Varghese underscored the importance of education in shaping responsible, disciplined and value-driven citizens. He encouraged students to pursue academic excellence while upholding integrity, responsibility and service to society.
Mr. Thomas Mathew, in his address, shared insights on the collective responsibility of teachers and students in building a strong academic environment and equipping young people to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing world.
The programme began with an invocation by Ms. Ahikali I. Jakha, Head of the Department of English, followed by a welcome address by Fr. Shaiju Philip, Administrator, who expressed gratitude for the continued guidance and support extended by the Diocese. Students also presented a cultural performance titled Kekhri, showcasing the rich cultural heritage and artistic talent of the college community.
The programme was chaired by Mr. N. David Phom, Assistant Professor, Department of History. Dr. R. K. Behera, Principal of MGM College, proposed the vote of thanks, expressing appreciation to the visiting dignitaries for their encouragement and guidance. The benediction was delivered by Mr. A. Kailang Phom, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science.
