Tuensang, 10th September 2026 (Nokinketer News): Deputy Commissioner of Tuensang, Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa, has issued a Travel Advisory following extensive damage to National Highway-202 caused by landslides triggered by incessant heavy rainfall.
According to the advisory, the affected stretch at Chainage 41.00 km near New Tsaru Village has sustained severe damage, rendering the road unsafe and highly vulnerable for the movement of heavy vehicles.
In view of the prevailing road conditions, the district administration has restricted the movement of all heavy vehicles and loaded commercial vehicles with immediate effect. However, Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) will be permitted to pass through the affected stretch, subject to extreme caution.
The administration has also advised commuters and transport operators to use the following alternate routes until further notice: (1). Thonger–Alisopur–Longmisa–Mokokchung Road. (2). Yangli–Yehemi Road. (3). Tuensang–Longleng Road.
The Deputy Commissioner has urged all commuters to strictly adhere to the advisory and cooperate with the authorities in ensuring public safety. Motorists are also advised to remain vigilant, exercise caution while travelling, and follow instructions issued by the district administration and traffic authorities.
