Dimapur, 11th September 2026 (Nokinketer News): The Centre of Logistics Training for Excellence (COLTE) was inaugurated at the Nagaland Integrated Hub for Skills, Kushibill, Dimapur, on Thursday to strengthen logistics-sector skill development and create employment opportunities for youth in Nagaland.
Deputy Chief Minister T.R. Zeliang, who inaugurated the centre, said COLTE marked an important step towards connecting Naga youth with opportunities in India’s rapidly expanding logistics and supply-chain sector. He said Dimapur’s position as Nagaland’s commercial hub and gateway by road, rail and air, along with its growing importance under the Act East Policy, made it a strategic location for the initiative.
Zeliang said more than 71,000 people were registered as unemployed with Employment Exchanges in the State, while 92% of registered unemployed lacked formal technical or vocational training. He urged youth to take advantage of industry-oriented training and certification offered through COLTE.
MLA & Advisor for Labour, Employment & Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Excise, Moatoshi Longkumer, said the centre could serve as a bridge between youth and the growing requirements of the logistics industry. He said COLTE would provide practical training, upskilling and reskilling, industry exposure, placement facilitation and specialised programmes based on market requirements.
Logistics Sector Skill Council Board Member K.V. Mahidhar said rapid infrastructure development and digitalisation were creating significant opportunities in logistics. He said the centre would provide practical training in warehousing, inventory, transport operations and logistics technology, while encouraging youth to acquire industry-recognised certifications.
B. Ramaratnam, Independent Director, Redington Ltd, said COLTE Nagaland was established through a public-private partnership involving the State government, Redington Foundation, Logistics Sector Skill Council and CII Institute of Logistics. He said the centre aims to train around 400 unemployed youth from economically weaker sections annually, with at least 20% participation from women, and facilitate placements with starting salaries of around ₹2 lakh to ₹3 lakh per annum.
An MoU was also exchanged between the Logistics Sector Skill Council and Zipaworld Innovation Pvt. Ltd. for international placements.
