Mokokchung, 22ns September 2026 (Nokinketer News): The Ao Senden, Watsü Mungdang and Ao Kaketshir Mungdang (AKM) have set the end of the 2026 academic year as the deadline for the School Education Department to act on the shortage and unequal distribution of teachers, particularly subject teachers, in Mokokchung district.
In a joint response to the department’s reply to their earlier ultimatum, the three organisations acknowledged the government’s assurance that rationalisation and recruitment of teachers were under process. They, however, said assurances alone were no longer sufficient, pointing to the continuing shortage of teachers affecting students across the district.
The organisations said they would wait until the end of the academic year for the department to take “concrete and effective action” to address the situation.
They called for adequate recruitment and a fair distribution of teachers, including subject teachers, across schools in the district, stressing that the issue directly affected students’ academic interests.
The three organisations warned that failure to deliver tangible results by the deadline would leave them with no option but to pursue their “own course of democratic action” in the larger interest of students and the education system.
They urged the government and the School Education Department to treat the matter as urgent and use the remaining period of the academic year to resolve the longstanding teacher shortage.
