Tuesday, JULY 7 (Nokinketer News): Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Nityanand Rai, concluded his two-day visit to Mokokchung district from July 5 to 6, during which he visited Ungma village and reviewed key development projects and cultural initiatives.

On his arrival at Ungma village, Rai interacted with members of the Village Council at the community hall.

Addressing the gathering, the minister said India’s strength and beauty lie in its rich diversity, with every region contributing its unique traditions, customs and cultural heritage, collectively reflecting the nation’s vibrant identity.

Acknowledging the presence of Padma Shri awardee Guru Sangyusang Pongener, Rai lauded his contribution to preserving and promoting the traditional art and culture of the Ao community. He said such efforts play a vital role in ensuring that future generations remain connected to their cultural heritage and identity.

The minister also said that the Government of India, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, remained committed to achieving inclusive growth and equitable development across all regions of the country under the vision of Viksit Bharat.

During the visit, Rai inspected the library-cum-museum at Ungma village and appreciated the initiatives taken by the village to preserve and showcase the rich cultural and historical heritage of the Ao community and Nagaland.

He also visited the ongoing construction of the hospital building at Dr. Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital, which is being undertaken under the Purvottar Sampark Setu programme of the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER).

Nityanand Rai Stresses on Optimum Utilization on Agriculture

Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Government of India, Nityanand Rai chaired a review meeting with Head of Departments and district-level officers at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall, Mokokchung on 6thJuly 2026 as part of his two-day visit to the district.

Interacting with the officials the minister stressed the importance of effective implementation of centrally sponsored schemes to achieve the goals and objectives envisioned by the government of India. He stated that proper execution of these schemes is essential to ensure inclusive and equitable growth and development across all regions of the country. The Minister urged the Departments implementing various central schemes to established clear priorities and formulate well-defined action plans for the efficient delivery of public services. He emphasized the need for transparency, accountability and timely implementation to ensure that the intended benefits reach the people.

Highlighting Nagaland’s immense agricultural potentials, the minister observed that the state is endowed with favourable natural resources and climatic conditions for organic farming. He therefore called for optimum and systematic utilization of available resources to promote sustainable agricultural growth and improve livelihood.

During the meeting, Head of Departments and District offices presented brief reports on the centrally sponsored schemes being implemented in Mokokchung district, highlighting their progress, achievements and challenges.

Earlier, Dr. Madhavi R. IAS (P) Additional Commissioner Mokokchung, delivered a PowerPoint presentation outlining the district profile and key development indicators.

The meeting was chaired by Ajit Kumar Verma IAS, Deputy Commissioner Mokokchung, while vote of thanks was proposed by Atsung Walling, NCS, ADC (Hq) Mokokchung.
